Waterfall Frog (Litoria nannotis)

Waterfall frog (Litoria nannotis), one of four species of endangered torrent frogs which were once commonly found clinging to rocks in proximity to fast moving cascades in far North Queensland. However their population faced rapid decline in the late 80s and early 90s likely in part due to infection by chytrid fungus. One of these species, the armoured mist frog (Litoria lorica) has not been seen for 17 years and was pressured extinct until it was rediscovered and now survives as a single population in the amount Carbine Tablelands. Another, the mountain mistfrog (Litoria nyakalensis) has not been seen since 1990 and while officially classified as critically endangered is sadly likely extinct.
