About Me

Exploring the natural world through photography

I am a hobbyist wildlife and nature photographer based in Far North Queensland, Australia with a special interest in reptiles and frogs.

For me much of the joy of the hobby is derived from the challenge of finding, observing and photograph wild animals in their natural habitat. As such, this is the manner by which my photography are taken unless otherwise specified.

Needlessly, this can sometimes be a frustrating process. After all, wild animals do not always cooperate and hours can be spent learning about then searching for a given species in seemingly ideal habitat without success or to unless catch a glance before it vanishes into the undergrowth, never to be seen again. In spite of this the rewards of finding a target species are well worth it, even if you don’t get the shot.

I use canon bodies and lenses Equipment in my kit includes:

  • 7D Mark II body
  • Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 macro USM
  • Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM
  • Canon EF 16-35 f/4 IS USM
  • Canon 430EXIII-RT Speedlite
  • Canon MT-24EX Macro Twin-lite flash
  • Lowpro Whisteler 350 AW II backpack
  • X-rite i1Display

Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions.

Cheers,

Trent Townsend.
